The family of Margaret Freeman spared a baby girl found dead in a trash bag a pauper’s burial in March of 1996. Camille Peay, Margaret’s niece asked the rest of the family’s help to give little Christina, a dignified burial. Enough money was collected to give the baby the beautiful burial.

The Hannah Angel organization was founded in 2001 by Margaret Freeman, after 28 years as a corporate professional. She became involved in the burial of an abandoned newborn child. The baby, only hours old, was found dead and partially burned in a dumpster. She adopted the child posthumously and named her Hannah Angel. Again, with the help of God, Mrs. Freeman’s family and community, little Hannah Angel was given a dignified funeral service.

The death of baby Hannah forced her to acknowledge the lack of resources and services available to pregnant teenagers and young women in crisis. Hence, the establishment of Hannah Angel Center, Inc. (HAC).

My Story:
The challenges faced by today’s youth are enormous. When difficult circumstances like poverty, lack of parental guidance and/or lack of education are combined with an unplanned or unwanted pregnancy, the outcome can be disastrous. As a former unwed teenage mother, I can fully grasp the challenges that these young women face. Many of these young girls have little or no support and are often left to bear the burden of pregnancy alone while the father walks away unscathed. With love and assistance from my family and community, I was able to overcome my circumstances. I would like to provide that same support given to me by offering Christ centered compassion in an environment of love and acceptance.

In September 2002, a child was released to me (HAC) by the Medical examiner of Dekalb County, Georgia. A frightened young mother abandoned her two newborn boys in the bathroom of a hospital. One survived, the other died. I posthumously adopted the child that did not survive, whom I named Jeremiah Christian. The surviving twin is currently awaiting adoption. Had Jeremiah’s birth mother known about Hannah Angel Center, maybe Jeremiah would be with his brother today? We need your help to spread the word about Hannah’s life saving mission.

“A child is a precious gift and should never be discarded.”
With All My Love,
Margaret Freeman
